The 'Rose Petal' scene shows the character Angela Hayes (Mena Suvari) in one of Lester Burnham's (Kevin Spacey) dreams. The symbolic use of roses and rose petals in the film - and, more broadly, the colour red - can be interpreted comprehensively, from suppressed emotions to sexual desire.
